| Squash at Kings
Heath Cricket and Sports Club is a thriving sport always on
the lookout for new members. We have two recently re-plastered
and some new changing rooms solely for the use of the Squash
Members.
The Club has about 100 members so courts are usually easy
to book at any time from 08.20 till 21.50 (7 days a week).
Purchasing a ticket for £2.50 from behind the bar in
the Club and putting on a booking sheet do this. At Kings
Heath we have NO light fee.
The Section runs the usual internal box leagues and at the
moment there are 7 all with about 6 players. They run for
about a month throughout the year.
The Clubs teams are competing in the second divisions of the
County Leagues, which is a tremendous achievement for a two
court Club.
To encourage good relations between the members there are
social Squash night about every 6 weeks or so and we run the
Swallow Cup as a pairs competition to encourage the weaker
players to take part in tournament play. Naturally we also
run our Club Championships with age group as well as Open
events. There is also a handicap tournament.
A Squash Committee who really do try and foster the social
side of the club runs the Section and numerous events are
held throughout the year such as Nosh Nights, weekends away
for golf and sometimes some squash is played. About 20-30
member of the club have also been skiing in Europe regularly
for some 10 years now.
The Facilities of the club are such that many members use
it as a Social Club and are members of the other sports sections
for a very marginal additional cost.
Membership is about £120 per year
